Introduction

Mining engineering is the branch of engineering which deals with the science , study ,design ,techniques and application of different engineering to extract the metallic , non-metallic material , fuel such as coal ,oil and gas etc from the earth or place from where it is naturally produced and process it into desired form and shape .A mining engineer has to study various aspects of process of mining, such as exploration and discovery (working with Geologist ) ,drilling, blasting, extracting , materials handling, transportation ,rock mechanics,mine health and safety, mine planning and operations analysis. A mining Engineer should also have good knowledge about proper use and utilization of mining equipments .

Mining Engineers must ensure that a project will be environmentally safe, not harmful to its natural surroundings .Mining Engineer also involved in lay out plans, design shafts, inclines or quarries for the safe extraction of resources ,safe, low cost and environmentally sound operation of mines ,researching and designing most cost effective mining equipments and mineral extraction technologies ,train the crew of workers and supervisors,inspect mines to make sure that the roofs of underground mines are supported correctly and that the air in mine shafts does not contain poisonous gases ,inspect and repair mining equipment.

Be update with continuous changing technology in this field.

Ability to handle tough working conditions.

Not to be home sick .

Good aptitude and analytical skills

Educational qualification

Minimum 12th Class from science subjects (Physics ,Chemistry and Mathematics ) from any board .After completing 12th class clear the engineering entrance examination like IIT-JEE ,AIEEE , state level Pre -Engineering Test (PET) or university level examination to get admission in engineering college providing Mining Engineering degree.

You can also do Master degree in any specialized branch of Mining engineering after graduation in Mining engineering by clearing all India level GATE Examination .

A Mining Engineer can get starting salary in the range of 20000/- to 40000/- per month depending on his/her skill , type of industry , and brand name of company.After having 4-5 years of experience one can get salary in the range of 70000/- to 100000/- per month , again depend on above mentioned factors.After having 15-20 years of experience one can join as consultant adviser in any big organization or start consultancy as an independent body.
